CoinSafe:
CoinSafe was the second game I made. This was my first Virtual Reality Game that I made and really helped me explore a new direction! Even though I used the same program to create the game, the programming process was very different because I was working with a different style (First Person VR) than my last game (a 2d platformer). Also, I programmed this game with two other people and primarily received help from them instead of receiving it from a dozen people and doing the majority of it individually. The button below will direct you to the page of the game which is downloadable for free. Enjoy!
Enter the mind of a sleep-deprived alcoholic who went running drunk and ended up in a cave (Don't drink when you're not of age kids). Although he may be wrong, he thinks that there is a bed on top of the cave. Help him find a way to get to the top of the cave and find the bed he thinks is there. But what if it's not there? There's only one way to find out.
This project was very fun. Since I created a game before this was less stressful, but I still had to worry about the same fundamental principles. For example, the concept of an MVP really helped me set my priorities straight and be able to finish the project. In case you don't know, MVP stands for Minimum Viable Product meaning the minimum product you can make of the game while still being playable and living up to its main characteristics. The idea of an MVP teaches game designers to focus on the most important aspects of the game instead of spending all of their time on background features such as music and art. With this sense of realism in mind, I focused on the main aspects of this game (collecting coins, opening safe, climbing rope) and made sure our team got those coded and out of the way before anything else. This made the creation process less stressful and more enjoyable. In conclusion, although I did have some experience from the last project, this project made me step into a completely different style of gaming and became an experience that I will never forget.
