Impact:
Scouts has taught me so much. I have learned how to be a better leader and manager of small teams. The skills I learned during my scouting career will help me manage small teams and businesses.
Scouts isn't the only thing responsible for what I learned. I have to give credit to my troop, Troop 200. This is one of the rare boy-run jamboree troops in Novato. Because we are in charge, we had to learn how to be independent and use our resources well. The scoutmasters and junior assistant scoutmasters did a great job allowing us to fail safely and learn.

Rank:
Other than school, I participate in many different groups, including Boy Scouts. I am currently in Troop 200 of Novato, one of the only troops run by boys. Unlike other troops, Troop 200 has a leadership council consisting of all boys and we create the meetings, instructions, games, and events of the troop. The Troop 200 meetings take place every Tuesday at the Presbyterian Church of Novato, so be sure to visit! More information on our troop can be seen here on our website here.
I am currently of the Life Scout Rank, the closest rank to Eagle. When you are a Life Scout, you really get into leading the troop, and taking what I believe are the most difficult positions in the council.

Leadership Roles:
To get to a rank this high, you need to take multiple terms as a leadership role in the council. Each term was 6 months long, and I took breaks between a few. Below, I have listed the terms I took to become Life Scout.
Patrol Leader, Duration: 6 months - When I first joined the troop, I was very confused and excited at the same time. Unlike any normal person though, I jumped straight into a position because I wanted to get some firsthand experience on how a patrol leader was like. In the end, as a starting 6th grader, I did an average job, doing my main duties, like calling my patrol and being their at the meetings, but didn't plan any real patrol meetings.
Bugler, Duration: 1 year-When I started 7th grade, I really started getting into music, which got me into the bugler position. I would perform the bugler end call, "TAPS" every meeting. Here is how the call sounds:

Chaplain's Aide - I ran for chaplains aide after bugling. It seemed like I job I could maintain with the rigor of school. It taught me to be reverent and patient. I also learned about new religion and how people use religion differently. Some use it to cope, while others find purpose with it. Although this was a small job, it did strengthen my knowledge about religion.
Patrol Leader-6 months-After finishing my 2 terms of bugling, I wanted to go back to what I started with. It was one day in summer camp, when our patrol was fighting, when I really thought to myself, I should lead again and bring our patrol back on our feet. So I ran. It was a very close call, a between a member of our patrol, Ethan, and I, but in the end I was the elected winner. For my term, my goal was to bring my patrol back together and kind of build friendships between the members. I really helped build up spirit between our patrol, by giving patrol cheers and parties. At the same time, I made sure we had all of our instructions and games created on time.
Patrol Leader-6 months-I realized that my previous term was unsuccessful and I needed to learn from it, I applied for another one. Before we start our terms for every job, we have an overnight camping trip called TLT, or Troop Leader Training. During this trip, we learned how to lead and more about each other as a group. We made solutions to problems that have been common these past years and made goals for our term. My goal is to have more patrol meetings and make our patrol have more spirit. I have been creating surveys every week for my patrol to do to get their opinions on our patrol and troop. I am sure this will be our most successful patrol term yet. Here is the website I made for our patrol, filled with the surveys I have given to figure out what my patrol enjoys and doesn't like the most about our troop.
Patrol Leader - 6 months - After multiple terms of Patrol Leader, I decided that I could apply my knowledge to give back one last time. I was more organized than I ever was before, but school was harder than it's ever been. Because of this, I was organized but limited with what I could do. I did plan patrol events and had a chance to introduce a new scout to our patrol. However, I didn't plan as many events as the previous terms so I wasn't able to bond with my patrol much.
